Domains
physiology
The basics of training lie within triggering physiological reactions, triggering changes in muscle mass, strength or improving endurance. The course addresses all relevant subjects on energy systems, muscle contractions and muscle fibers in the context of Olympic weightlifting. This fundamental knowledge is the groundwork for the next domains.
Biomechanics
A prerequisite for being able to adjust someone’s technique is studying their movements. In this course we extensively observe and analyze the snatch and clean & jerk, based on analyzing techniques that enable us to identify the errors in the movements. Aside from the theoretical framework, we will devote time to practicing these techniques by observing, analyzing and correcting each other.
Methods & Didactics
The course structurizes how to optimally teach the (partial) movements of the Olympic lifts in both group and individual training. Programming and organizing this type of training will be addressed frequently during this course.
Motor learning
Knowledge will be translated into practice by thorough practice situations and interventions that challenge the participant to offer solutions to movement errors. Several approaches will be elaborated on to effectively convey this message. The different needs of athletes will be taken into consideration.
